Samuel
Morris : The Apostle of simple Faith
JOJIN
JOSE
Samuel
Morris, 14, began his life as the eldest son of a African tribal
chieftain.
His small tribe called Kru was hostile to another tribe called
Grebos. One
day Samuel Morris was caught by the grebos and held hostage until, his
tribe the cru could pay of debts.
The cru tribe started to give up all they had to save Samuel.
The greedy grebos chieftain was not satisfied.
He ordered Samuel beaten every day with a vine of thorns that tore
the skin and inserted a fiery virus at the same time. Samuel Morris was
beaten every day in front of the entire Grebos tribe until he passed out.
His captors also forced him to do work in the fields.
He was kept isolated, away from the other slaves.
After four months wroth of whipping the Grebos
chieftain decided to kill his young hostage by the cruel way
imaginable.
But God had different plans for the young idol worshipper.
The
Grebos chieftain ordered a large pit be dug and Samuel be buried up to his
head, so only his head was above the ground.
Next they planned to paste honey on his face and prop his mouth
open with a stick.
The honey would attract fierce driver ants from a near by ant hill.
While eating the honey the ants would eventually in days eat away
the face as well.
so the pit was dug and ready.
All the Grebos gathered around the pit to witness the cruel
killing.
suddenly,
a blinding light shone from the sky.
The blinded captors stumbled and fell .
A voice from heaven commanded Samuel to " Rise up and run
away!"
The ropes on his feet and hands fell off and he started to run in
to the nearby woods.
His body was weak from the beatings.
But still he ran until he reached a stream.
He drank the water until he renewed his strength.
He continued to travel for days until he reached large mansion.
There he met one of his childhood friends named Joey Nathan.
Samuel found out he was at a white mission.
Joey Nathan lead Samuel to Christ.
One Sunday a American missionary named Ms. Anna knolls came to the
mission.
In church Ms. Knolls spoke about Paul and how he saw the light
and was lead by God to Ananias who converted Paul.
It
was then that Samuel understood that the light was Christ and it
lead him to the white mission.
Samuel understood God had chosen him to do the work.
One
night while praying, a glorious light filled his room.
Samuel felt the burden of his sin being taken away.
He was full of joy.
His thirst was strong for knowing more about
the Lord.
He soon was baptized and filled with Holy spirit.
He would travel to America and preach about his conversion to
Christ.
By the power of God
he converted thousands. He died at the age of 21 to the flu. ( real
story)
The
message I am trying to convey to is God can use you, no matter how wicked
you are, or what age you are.
God used Samuel Morris when he was a mere 16 years old.
It does not have to be a big ministry, but each one you has a
calling.
We will be rewarded for all the good works we do.
In Mathew 25: 14
It talks about the talents.
Two men used their talents, but one wasted his.
The master said to the two who used their money " well done
good and faithful servant ; thou has been faithful over few things, I will
make thee ruler over many things: enter in to the joy of thy Lord".
In
Revelation it says " Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone
hears my voice and opens the door I will come in and dine with him"
Are you willing to open the door? Did you hear his voice?"
In acts 4:4 it says " many of those who heard the word
believed .
" The Bible is God is talking to us ". So are you wiling
to read the Bible?
Not only do you have to read but you have to believe.
Open the door of your heart and let the Holy ghost work in you.
Samuel Morris accepted Christ and the result : the heavy burden of
sin was removed from his heart .
Only one life to live, live it for Christ.
If you refuse the word of God,
Be ware, of the future judgment and then eternal fire.
All
of us have some kind of problems one way or another, but we must bring our
worries to Christ and submit ourselves.
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and Grief
to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
The answer to your problem is prayer.
We also will have trials and temptations.
God will test us, but he will never tempts us.
Only Satan tempts us.
Are we weak and heavy laden
cumbered
with a load of care?
Precious Savior still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Cast all your cares upon him, for he cares for you.
